With athletes increasingly wanting to gain an advantage to succeed many psychological techniques have been developed to provide them with this winning edge, one being mental imagery. Mental imagery has been described by Moran (2004, p.125) as “ internal representation that gives rise to the experience of perception in the absence of the appropriate sensory input.”
